The cell phone has replaced the landline as the main source of communication for most consumers today. Coupled with new developments in smartphone technology, the average user is constantly relying on their phone for remaining in contact and managing social life. The issue of illegal robocalls effects these users the most in today’s market. However, given that the smart phone has now become so closely integrated into the normal user’s life, special security considerations must be given to smartphones due to the sensitivity of information being passed through the connection.
BananaDroid is the smartphone proof-of-concept that attempts to mitigate the issue of robocalls on the the smartphone platform given the strict user requirements for maintained data integrity. This is done through leveraging the technology outlined in the Banana Phone Project technical proposal.
