Abstract: Counterfeit products have been a critical challenge for various industries, especially for companies that tie quality assurance and guarantee with their brand, leading to customers’ distrust of the brand. While various methods and technologies have been introduced and implemented by various industries or individual companies, they all have their advantages and disadvantages ranging from “being too simple to bypass” to “being too complicated for the customer to use”. In this Paper, we would be looking into various methods of counterfeiting, traditional preventive and identification methods, and upcoming, cutting-edge solutions with real-world companies as case studies and proposed a solution for Counterfeit Prevention on Apparel Industry Supply Chain using Blockchain Digital Twin.
Why does counterfeiting happen? Counterfeiting occurs mostly due to the demand created by the customers who either buy the counterfeits due to their ignorance or by voluntarily resorting to counterfeits due to various factors ranging from lesser cost, availability in their region, and restrictions from their governments.

Conclusion: From the case’s we have seen and the data analyzed it is evident that anti-counterfeiting is tied very closely to customer satisfaction and interaction and thus better results can be reached if a block-chain based product manufacturing and ownership tracking system that can be used to verify the authenticity by customers, potential customers and counterfeit prevention authorities would allow for a better anti-counterfeit system.
