Inspiration
Our inspiration for "Balloon Burst" stemmed from the idea of creating an MR gaming experience that promotes real-world social interaction and fun. We aimed to capture the excitement of popping balloons while competing with friends in the same room. Furthermore, the opportunity to incorporate different types of balloons to add dynamism to the game allowed us to explore new possibilities in augmented reality.
What it does
"Balloon Burst" is an MR game designed for two players in the same room. The main objective is to pop balloons and earn as many points as possible. Each player can pop balloons of different colors, and depending on whether you pop your own balloons or your opponent's, you will gain or lose points. The simple yet addictive gameplay mechanics ensure that players have fun and compete in real-time in the real world.
How we built it
To build "Balloon Burst," we used passthrough(MR) technology to create an immersive gaming environment. We developed the application on a compatible MR platform, leveraging object detection and motion tracking capabilities. We designed a wide variety of virtual balloons and created a scoring system that rewards players for popping the right balloons.
Challenges we ran into
Throughout the development of "Balloon Burst," we encountered several exciting challenges. One of the primary challenges was achieving smooth and precise interaction between players and virtual balloons in real-time. Additionally, creating a balanced gameplay dynamic that kept players engaged was a significant challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have created a social MR gaming experience that combines the joy of popping balloons with the thrill of real-world competition. We have successfully designed a game that provides entertainment for players of all ages and levels of MR experience. Furthermore, we have laid the groundwork for future expansions, such as the inclusion of different types of balloons and additional game modes.
What we learned
Throughout the development of "Balloon Burst," we have learned a great deal about augmented reality technology and the complexities of creating immersive gaming experiences in the real world. We have acquired skills in MR game design, performance optimization, and the creation of an intuitive user interface. Additionally, we have come to appreciate the importance of social interaction and fun in the gaming experience.
What's next for Balloon Burst
In the future, we plan to take "Balloon Burst" to the next level. We are excited about the possibility of introducing different types of balloons with unique abilities, adding an additional layer of strategy to the game. We are also exploring the potential for creating additional game modes and the ability to compete online with friends from around the world. Our vision is to turn "Balloon Burst" into a socially engaging and exciting AR game that continues to evolve and attract a broad audience. We are thrilled about what the future holds for "Balloon Burst"!
