Very often people seek competition but go to a basketball court without getting any. Our app looks to connect people who want to play together and allow those who don't an option too!

Inspiration

As someone who loves to play basketball at neighbourhood courts, it is often hard to know the crowd at a court. Often, when there is a large number of people in the court, we form teams and play against each other. It is then difficult to track who plays first.

Additionally, it is difficult keep track of scores and improvements as a passionate neighbourhood player. It would be nice to have an app that allows me to do this. (Also for the flex...) Being able to make friends with fellow basket ballers and to get them out to play a game together would be nice too.

What it does

The app has five main functions

  1. Homepage - ability to see nearby courts, ability to see players in each court, check in and out of the courts, form teams
  2. Chat - chatting with ballers on the app
  3. Bookmarks - bookmarking frequent courts to easily access the information
  4. leaderboard - seeing casual and competitive statistics of top players on the app
  5. profile - ability to see past games, ability to see own statistics (games lost, won, average point per game)

How we built it

frontend - react native database - firebase database

Challenges we ran into

As a two man team with someone without any experience building an application, it was tough to learn everything within the day and to execute. Hence, it was to come up with a fully functional product and we struggled to form the minimum viable project as well.

What's next for BaLliNg

We will continue to work on the application to ensure that what we set out to achieve for it is achieved.
