Inspiration

We are university students that have spent a lot of time studying remotely due to the pandemic. One of the problems we noticed is that the virtual classroom experience is no match to the in-person classroom experience and we want to do something to alleviate that.

What it does

Bahen 1180 provides an in-person classroom experience virtually, centralises all lecture content and organises pdf based course content in a virtual classroom.

How we built it

We used React to build a web application and Firebase to build an authentication system.

Challenges we ran into

This is the first time most of us have used React and Firebase. Getting ramped up on these in such a short amount of time proved to us to be difficult as most of us are more well versed in other topics such as hardware development. We also ran into problems while setting up the development environment.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Having a semi-functional and an acceptable looking minimum viable product.

What we learned

We learnt how to use React and Firebase to achieve our technical goals.

What's next for Bahen 1180

There are many ideas that we wanted to implement but couldn't due to the interest of time. One of the ideas that stands out the most to us is a chat feature for students to converse with one another.
