Background

Language is the ability possessed to communicate with other humans. Regional languages in Indonesia that have been accepted by the Research of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia in 2017 are 652 regional languages. Problems arise from the large number of people who migrate, travel on vacation, or study in other areas. And there are no complete and functional tools that can help people in translating and knowing languages and terms in other areas.

Goals and Purpose

"Bahasaku." which is an application to learn Regional language in form of games and also can translate between regional languages in Indonesia equipped with features to scan text and images and record sound.

Person that wants to learn another regional language and doesn't know the meaning of the regional language.

Product design usage scenario

  1. Scenario example for play games You want to be easy and fun to learn the language. You have to play some games inside the app.
  2. Scenario example for translate a word or sentence You want to translate your language into another language. You have to write down a word or sentence that you want.
  3. Scenario example for chatting with other people You want to talk to other people using a foreign language. You have to find a friend who suits you
  4. Scenario example for chatting with bot You want to speak to the bot using a foreign language. You have to use the language that you want then the bot will answer according to the language that you use.
  5. Scenario example for change user profile You want to change your password, language, province, or city. You have to go to the profile menu to replace all of it.

Methods and user testing result

Methods Testing : Semi-structured Interview After using the application, do you find it easy to learn the local language? Are there any difficulties in carrying out the existing scenario? In your opinion, the features of My Language are the most valuable from our app? What do you think is the least useful feature of the My Language app?

Testing Result : Fadil muhammad 12 years old Student of Junior High School that less proficient in his local language With games in my language, learning local languages is easy and fun the difficulty is when looking for friends of the same age with the chat feature (Fadil parent : The difficulty is in the my notes feature, if possible there is menu for kids ) the most valuable feature is learning by games the most least feature is chatting with other people because not all ages need to use this feature

Amara Belicia 19 years old University Student in bandung from Outside bandung. the experience is simpler and very complete. because we can learn with interesting interactive games plus the translator feature and chat with other people can train us to have local language conversations the difficulty is when looking for friends of the same local language proficiency level (it's better if there is a finding friend sort feature ) The most helpful feture in bahasaku is the translator, because Often I want to speak the local language but I don't know what to say and I often encounter unknown foreign languages the most least feature is chatting with bot because bots will answer standardly and its not very interesting

Conclusion

Bahasaku give an easy regional language learning through games and have an complete translator features with voices,pictures and text to speech. also this application provide chatting with another person in other regional to practice the regional language conversation.
