Inspiration
We are inspired by the difficulty of applying for jobs in a Web2 environment. In it's current state, applying for jobs becomes more of a numbers game than it is searching for jobs that you are actually qualified for. On the employer side, employers are spending loads of money and time to find a few qualified applicants out of hundreds to thousands.
What it does
Our application allows applicants who have earned a badge in a specific skill to find jobs that require these skills by much quicker and more efficient means. Additionally, it enables employers to find qualified applicants faster and cheaper than ever.
How we built it
We build a NFT minting contract, a minting page, and a Job listing board similar to the Near Job listing board. Employers can register on the job board an post jobs that require specific skills. When applicants visit the job board with an NFT badge of these specific skills they can filter out all of the jobs that are irrelevant to them on the job board with one click.
Challenges we ran into
Allong the way, we ran into many issues, many realated to time constraints. Idealy, we would have liked to implement rich skill descriptors which enables employers to understand more about the applicants skills.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have established a true Web3 Job board, unlike any other.
What we learned
Throghout this process, we learned a lot about working with the Near blockchain, a new technology for our team. Near has turned out to be easy to work with and we are exited to continue working with it in the future
What's next for Applying for Jobs in Web3
We would like to add:
- more utility for applicants once wallets are connected
- a simple API for educators and job boards to join the ecosystem
- add additional processes to establish trust in verification
- add support for more opaque use cases where skills are not linear
