Inspiration
Our website is a Back to the Future themed website, in which we incorporate key elements from the movies, as well as intentionally making the website to appear as if its from the same time as the movie. Our website is an educational tool in which students, ranging from upper elementary school students to middle school students, can press on any subject and learn a few important facts about each subject from the past 100 years. We wanted the website to be similar to some of the other educational sites of the 1990s.
What it does
The website is an educational learning tool, in which students, ranging from upper elementary to middle school students, can use the website by clicking on one of the five subjects, History, Film, Science, Technology, and Sports. The students can use the website either as a fun fact learning educational tool, or to receive summed up paragraphs of the event they are attempting to learn about.
How we built it
The website is hosted on aws using a ubuntu server with nginx. Then we used Adobe Dreamweaver for the html, java, and css code to power the website. The research however, was rigorous research that was conducted on the past 100 years for each subject. Then we simply incorporated that information into the html code on Adobe Dreamweaver
Challenges we ran into
There wasn't many challenges, although doing all of the actual research was very time consuming.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our team is especially proud of the design of the website, as we utilized 90s themed css bootstrap templates to help form the appearance of our website. We are also proud to say that you can click on any subject and any decade and you will find more than a few important facts from that decade.
What we learned
We learned that its pretty complicated to only fit more than a few facts per decade, because there is so much important information out there.
What's next for BacktoLearning.com
What's next for BacktoLearning.com is more subjects that you will be able to learn about and more activities to do. We would love to add more interactivity so that kids and young teens would actually have an enjoyable time on our webpage. We would also like to add more facts per decade because there is a lot more history to talk about.
