Inspiration

We feel that if a student is confident in their abilities, guidance and support will enable the student to provide reliable returns on their education (aka: getting a job etc.) We built a way for this to benefit backers and students by giving incentives for both.

What it does

Educational loan app that connects students in need of funding to interested back. Backers will evaluate the student's offer of cash return, but we also consider the peer-and-mentor roles as an integral part of the value generated from these relationships. A typical contract formed involves the student promising a % of their wages to the investor, but with guardrails (max amount, max repayment period, minimum-wage == no repayment). We expect Backers to accept terms that involve a 2x return on their money.

How we built it

Claude Code. Our Ideas on concepts and implementation.

Challenges we ran into

Brainstorm on the inital idea's feasibility, and pruning the amount of extra features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The fact that this app is fully built and functional.

What we learned

How to ideate, work together on a project that has an original and real world use case. We also learned how capable AI is at creating full-stack projects.

What's next for BackMe

Consideration to become a serious service; add professor endorsement and group funding.
