Inspiration
There are many women who are highly skilled and talented but are facing difficulties returning to the workforce after a career break such as maternity leave, or due to health or personal reasons. We are inspired by these women and would like to build a platform to provide the resources required to help women return to work and continue their passion.
What it does
Our platform supports women in finding the correct resources. There are two sections- Mentors and Jobs.
- Mentors- In this section, users can find the right mentors required for their project and connect with them.
- Jobs- In this section, users can enter their details such as name, age, career gap, education, domain, etc, and submit the form. Based on their details, relevant jobs will be recommended.
How we built it
- We have used HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Bootstrap for front-end development.
- We have used the Flask web framework.
- We have created a machine learning model for career recommendations.
Challenges we ran into
- Data availability has been a challenge. We have to manually create our dataset.
- Encoding of the textual data in the dataset.
- Front end and back end integration as we are using various technologies.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are able to successfully build an end-to-end platform that supports women within the constrained timeframe.
What we learned
- We have learned how to work together in a team and, how to manage time efficiently.
- We have also learned and implemented new technologies in the project.
What's next for BACK-TO-WORK
- We would like to scale up the platform by adding more features such as a section where users can ask questions and, post their comments.
- A section designated for upskilling. Women in any field will have access to all the courses available in different fields such as Technology, Legal, Culinary, Media, etc. They can find their relevant area and interest to learn and follow their passion.
