Urban old photos provide a precious historical perspective. Through comparing old photos with the current urban scenery, we can witness the evolution and development of the city. This contrast highlights changes in architecture, road expansions, and shifts in social structures, reflecting the historical context of the city. Old photos allow citizens to feel the transformation of the city, the rise and fall of buildings. Such changes evoke citizens' curiosity about the history of their city, enhancing their appreciation for urban development.
Old photos also serve as storytellers of the city. These images may capture once-thriving industries and scenes where citizens collectively struggled. This past shapes the cultural heritage of the city, and through old photos, citizens can better understand the historical context of the city they inhabit, sensing the weight of history.
Urban old photos are not just static images; they form an emotional bond between citizens and the history of the city. This connection of memories weaves together the past, present, and future, creating a narrative of the city's evolution and highlighting citizens' profound emotional attachment to their urban identity. The main goal of this project is to construct an augmented reality (AR) platform that can showcase urban photos, allowing citizens and tourists to visually explore memories in various corners of the city through this platform.
