BAC Monitor is an app that addresses the problem of alcohol poisoning, sexual assault, and other alcohol-related issues by closely monitoring your intake levels and automatically reaching out for help when necessary via SMS. The app is able to detect when too much alcohol is consumed by calculating the users BAC. As the users BAC reaches higher levels, his or her friends are notified. By use of the accelerometer, it is able to detect when the user falls and alerts nearby friends of the incident. Further combining the accelerometer with the GPS functionality, the app is able to detect and automatically notify surrounding friends via SMS with the users BAC and location in the case that the user falls asleep or passes out away from home over a certain BAC level. It also keeps track of the users active and still time, as well as the total number of falls throughout the night. This app is mostly targeted towards college campuses. Recently there have been a lot of alcohol-related incidents that could have been easily avoidable. This app aims to greatly increase the safety of college students while allowing them to still have a good time.
