Inspiration
We recognize the need for a site like this, especially on a college campus where there are young, first time drinkers. We think it is important to ensure their safety the best way we can. Additionally, many new drinkers may not be aware of the effects of the alcohol they are drinking, so having an effective user interface will make it easy for them to understand their limit and maintain their safety.
What it does
The user inputs what they have drank (ABV and how much has been drank) and records drinking start time, the app prompts the user with questions on their mental and physical state at pre-determined intervals that are both time based and BAC based once drinking has began. Based on the alcohol information provided (such as name of drink, number of drinks drank, time passed) and the user response to prompts, the app will output advice on how the user should proceed with their drinking or contact an emergency contact.
How we built it
We used JavaScript, HTML, and CSS to create back-end and front end.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into challenges based on the type of language to use and how to organize the various components of our project. We continued to work through these issues and gained a lot from the experience.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our ability to create a workable UI and coming up with various elements and technologies that will work together.
What we learned
We learned how to effectively work as a team, share our ideas, and use all the technologies we currently know to create a website. We learned a lot more about how to utilize HTML and CSS.
