Inspiration

This idea is coming out from my personal experience. Being expats and being first time parents both my wife and I went throguh a lot of stressful situations, not knowing how to handle baby or other things and when i look back we really missed the first 2 years of the beautiful journey.

What it does

Parents Sanctuary is a mobile-first web app designed to be a compassionate companion for new parents. Its core is a 'Mindful Me' section where parents can simply speak their feelings to Anya, our AI companion, who listens with incredible empathy and offers gentle guidance, always ending with a personalized affirmation of their strength. Beyond that, it features a vibrant Community Hub where parents can share tips, discuss trending topics, and support each other through posts, comments, and votes. And crucially, it offers real-time one-on-one chat so parents can connect privately with others in the community, fostering genuine connections that persist.

How we built it

I built Parents Sanctuary as a React application, focusing heavily on a mobile-first, responsive UI using Tailwind CSS to give it that smooth, app-like feel. I have used bot.new for this entire project. For backend, we leveraged Supabase, which handled everything from user authentication and our PostgreSQL database to Row Level Security for data safety, and powerful Edge Functions for serverless logic. The voice interaction came from integrating the Eleven Labs Conversational AI Widget.

Challenges we ran into

Quite a lot actually, especially on the coding side as I am not a developer/engineer. Some of the challenges are:

  • Supabase RLS and Complex Queries
  • Eleven Labs Widget Integration
  • Real time chat functionality
  • time management as I only got to know of this hackathon on 27th June, evening and i didnt have much time

Accomplishments that we're proud of

a. The fully functional voice AI interaction: From speaking to getting an empathetic response and having it all synced to the database automatically – that whole flow working seamlessly is a huge win. b. The persistent, real-time chat: Building a complete, working chat feature with Supabase Realtime in such a short time feels like a major accomplishment. Messages don't vanish, they just live! c. The overall mobile-first user experience: Despite the complexity under the hood, the app feels smooth, intuitive, and genuinely helpful on a phone. d. Tackling complex integrations: We pushed ourselves to integrate a sophisticated third-party AI service and leverage advanced Supabase features, which was a significant learning curve and a great success.

What we learned

Many great learnings: a. having a clear idea of what to build and understanding & limiting the scope b. managing time and expectations towards my self c. learnt how much disciplined I am :) d. How much AI progressed in the last month :) e. having a team would have helped significantly

What's next for Parents Sanctuary

For Parents Sanctuary, I envision expanding Anya's capabilities with more personalized coaching plans and specialized topic-based insights. We want to introduce group chats for specific parenting stages or challenges, integrate expert-led resources, and add features like personalized activity recommendations. Ultimately, we aim to be the go-to digital companion that truly supports every parent's emotional well-being throughout their unique journey.
