Without an easy way to organize and monitor your baby's health, milestones can be missed. Our app solves this by providing a convenient, AI-powered tracker that ensures you stay on top of your baby's care—making it easier, safer, and more reliable.

What it does

BabyBytes is an app designed to help new parents reduce mental load by effortlessly tracking and understanding their baby's development! With BabyBytes, you can log and track essential metrics like height, weight, nap times and durations, and even favourite meals. Our app turns data into intuitive visualisations so that you can understand changing patterns over time - whether it's height over the last 6 months or nap time averages over the last week.

The best part is we're tailored to busy parents: instead of manual data entry, you can log all key metrics with just your voice, so that you can stay up-to-date even when your hands are full - literally.

What's more, tracking your baby's eating habits has never been easier: simply upload before-and-after pictures of baby's meals and our unique feature automatically identifies what's on the plate and how much of it was eaten. Now you have dependable visualisations of your baby's favourite foods as well as nutritional deficiencies to watch out for.

How we built it

We used Google Cloud's (Gemini) image processing capabilities to capture food data and text-to-text model to do data processing, and Deepgram's speech-to-text model to transcribe user audio inputs. We used SingleStore for our database.

Challenges we ran into

Working with audio data was a new challenge and we spent a lot of time debugging; as a result there were features that we wanted to implement but ultimately couldn't get to.
