BABYbot

Inspiration

Fine Arts Miracles, a non-profit out of the Pittsburgh area that already works to empower individuals through creative arts and social robotics designed and developed BABYbot to improve the well-being for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia patients while providing relief to caregivers.

What it does

Provides real-time patient engagement and helps mitigate behavioral and psychological symptoms for seniors with people with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD).

How we built it

Using depth cameras and OpenVINO for real-time feedback on patient engagement.

Challenges we ran into

Having enough technical and healthcare experts to help monitor emotional, cognitive, and physical responses.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Obtained grants from the Area Agency on Aging in Allegheny County and various other foundations.

What we learned

Patients enjoyed the interaction and showed greater emotional and cognitive stability.

What's next for BABYbot

Continue to develop BABYbot and expand out of the Pittsburgh area.
