Inspiration

During my pregnancy, I often felt unmotivated and overwhelmed. One day, I stumbled upon a video that talked about how early sanskars and positive activities—even before birth—can shape a baby’s future. That simple idea led me to try an online prenatal program that offered storytime, affirmations, and creative bonding exercises. It helped me feel connected, focused, and grounded. That experience stuck with me. So when I came across the Bolt Hackathon, my husband and I thought—why not bring this feeling to every mom through a simple, smart app?

What it does

BabyBloom is an AI-powered, offline-first baby development app for expecting and new mothers. Based on personal preferences like stage (prenatal/postnatal), time availability, and activity type (cognitive, sensory, emotional), it generates a weekly list of personalized, pediatric-safe activities to do with your baby. It’s like a gentle guide that keeps moms motivated, supports baby development, and brings back intention and joy to the parenting journey.

How we built it

Believe it or not—we built it in one single prompt. The app uses smart prompt engineering to generate meaningful, context-aware activities through GPT-4o Mini and Gemini 2.5 Flash. We built it as a fully offline Progressive Web App (PWA) with all data stored securely on-device, giving moms complete control and privacy. No internet needed—except for the AI generation step.

Challenges we ran into

Designing AI prompts that don’t just spit out generic advice, but truly feel personalized and safe. Balancing smart AI logic with simplicity—moms don’t have time to figure things out. Making sure the app looks clean, loads fast, and works perfectly offline.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating a functional, privacy-first app in just one prompt. Making AI actually useful and meaningful—not just slapped on. Building something that we as parents genuinely want to use.

What we learned

Simplicity wins. Especially when your user is a sleep-deprived parent. A well-thought-out AI prompt can outperform bulky logic or dozens of screens. Emotional connection matters just as much as smart technology.

What's next for BabyBloom

Add milestone tracking and gentle reminders. Introduce voice-guided activities and multilingual support. Partner with pediatricians to further refine activity sets. And most importantly—get it into the hands of real moms who need it.
