Baby on Board is an app for low-income new mothers to track their recovery process and the symptoms they're having. It's also a place they can find resources to help them.
Inspiration: We were inspired by the statistics both mother and infant mortality here in the US, and how class directly affected the level of medical care that mothers were given.
What it does: It acts as a diary where the mother can input symptoms she's been having as well as the dates they started so she can better provide information to her medical provider. It also gives information about after-birth recovery, what the recovery timeline should look like, as well as what symptoms to look out for.
How we built it: We build it using android studio and working in java
Challenges we ran into: We were very tired and didn't get as much done as we would like
Accomplishments that we're proud of: We finished a lot more of the app than we thought we would, which is awesome
What we learned: We learned more about the struggles low income mothers face, as well as Java skills and got more comfortable working with android studio.
What's next for Baby on Board: We'd like to continue developing the app by doing more research to refine the information we provide, as well as working on the diary/calendar portion of the app by integrating a database to store the information.
