The idea hit me like a bolt of lightning: An app to track leap weeks, designed specifically for sleep-deprived parents who needed quick, easy-to-digest information. I could picture it clearly - not sleek or polished, but raw and authentic, like the early days of parenthood themselves.

I grabbed a BIC pen and started sketching. The blue ink flowed across the page, creating rough outlines of buttons and screens. It was messy, imperfect - and exactly right. This app wouldn't pretend that parenting was always Instagram-worthy. It would embrace the chaos.

As the sun began to peek through the curtains, I set the pen down. The basic design was there, but bringing it to life would be another challenge entirely. I dove into Rive, determined to create illustrations that captured the whimsy of childhood while maintaining that hand-drawn feel.

Days blended into weeks as I worked through my vacation mornings, stealing moments between diaper changes and midnight feedings. I wrestled with code, celebrated small victories, and cursed under my breath when things went wrong. But slowly, surely, Baby Leaps began to take shape.

I stared at the screen, my heart sinking as I read through the detailed rejections I constantly got. My decision to implement a hard paywall suddenly seemed like a monumental mistake. I reworked the text and App Store images again and again until I finally got a pass just hours before the deadline.

I felt a mix of exhaustion and exhilaration. Baby Leaps wasn't perfect - much like parenting itself - but it was real, it was honest, and most importantly, it was done. This app, born from sleepless mornings and caffeinated coding sessions, was more than just a project. It was a love letter to the messy, beautiful journey of parenthood - scribbled in blue ink and swift code.
