BabelPal

Inspiration

• We were inspired by the language-learning experience of Duolingo combined with the spontaneous, global connections of Omegle. We wanted to create a platform that makes practicing languages fun, real-time, and human.

What it does

• BabelPal connects people from around the world for live conversations, helping them practice and learn new languages in a social and engaging way.

How we built it

We used React for the frontend, Spring Boot for the backend, and integrated the Gemini API to provide AI-powered assistance and feedback.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the key challenges included finalizing a realistic and impactful idea, designing an intuitive UI, and handling frontend development under time constraints.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully implemented the backend, built a clean and user-friendly UI, and integrated with the Gemini API to enhance user interaction with smart features.

What we learned

We gained valuable experience in API integration, collaborating effectively, managing our time, and resolving version control conflicts using Git.

What's next for BabelPal

We plan to continue enhancing the platform with new features, improve scalability and performance, and explore commercialization opportunities to bring BabelPal to a wider audience.
