Inspiration
Main motivation are the extreme weather conditions in Calgary which turn your car into a refrigerator if left outside. Especially when you have class the entire day and you walk 5-10 minutes to arrive by your car to find it extremely cold and unbearable. All other car starters have a limited range but not Baazinga Smart Start.
What it does
Our project consists of a mobile application which connects to the election particle which is hooked on to the car. The mobile app's basic function is to start and stop the car.
How we built it
The electron sets up and listens to any events caused by the unique device ID and access token online. Once the request to start or stop the car is sent the electron sends proper signals to the output pins in order to start the car. Due to less time and weekend we could not implement the electron into a car and see it run. But instead on the bread board we used to the 4 pin LED to demonstrate the different steps of turning a car on.
Challenges we ran into
The implementation into a car required a lot of car harness and parts. The mobile app was hard to use to control the electron.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully created a beautiful app with a very useful interface. Also being able to demonstrate the way a car would have started without physically putting our device in the car
What we learned
Great amount of team management skills, a lot about the electron and long range internet of things, connection between devices over the internet.
What's next for Baazinga Smart Start
We plan on continuing and making an actual product which we can ship out to anyone for a cheap price and let them enjoy this comfort for a small piece.
