Inspiration

Living in Sydney, I often see the Australian white ibis—better known as the “bin chicken”—digging through the city’s trash.
One day I wondered: What if this bird had a story we never listened to?
That question became the beginning of the film. I wanted to reframe an overlooked creature as a symbol of dignity, resilience, and the courage to choose a new path.

How I Built It

This short film was created entirely with a full AI production pipeline.

  • Character Concepts: Generated base character images with Midjourney.
  • Animation Keyframes: Produced animated scene images using Nanobanana and Seedream.
  • Video Generation: Built most animation sequences in Kling, with selective use of Sora for complex motion shots.
  • Music: Composed original music using Suno.
  • Narration: Generated voice-over narration with ElevenLabs.
  • Editing: Final cut, pacing, and sound design were completed in Final Cut Pro, bringing everything together into a cinematic flow.

What I Learned

I realized that AI tools can unlock artistic dreams that once felt out of reach.
For me, this project was especially meaningful because becoming an animation director has been a long-held dream—and through AI, I was finally able to make it real.

Result

The entire project was completed over roughly six weeks, blending creativity and new technology into a story about identity, choice, and finding worth beyond how the world labels us.
