Inspiration
I was inspired by my interest in robotics and electronics. I wanted to make a small robot that could express emotions visually and with sound, just like real-life robots in movies.
What it does
Shows emotions on an OLED screen (happy, angry, sleeping)
Plays sounds matching the emotions using DFPlayer Mini
Interacts automatically when someone comes near
Can move small parts with motors controlled by L298N driver
In short: it’s a fun, interactive robot that smiles, sleeps, talks, and reacts to people.
How we built it
Microcontroller: Arduino Uno / ESP32
Output: OLED display, DFPlayer Mini for sounds
Sensors: IR / Ultrasonic for interaction
Motor driver: L298N for moving parts
Programming: Arduino IDE, C++ style code
I programmed it to show different faces for emotions (happy, angry, sleeping) and play matching sounds. When someone comes near, the robot reacts automaticallY
Challenges we ran into
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully programmed the robot to show multiple emotions (happy, angry, sleeping) on the OLED display.
Integrated sound using DFPlayer Mini to match the emotions.
Robot reacts automatically to sensor input (IR/ultrasonic).
Learned to combine Arduino programming, electronics, and sensors in one working project.
Built a fully functional prototype as a 7th-grade student.
What we learned
How to program Arduino and ESP32
How to use an OLED display to show faces
How to play sounds using DFPlayer Mini
How to control motors and sensors for interaction
