Inspiration

Like many parents, I’ve spent years telling bedtime stories—and a few months ago, my youngest daughter became the star of them.

Inspired by the warmth of Bluey, the simplicity of Daniel Tiger, and the imaginative spirit of jungle stories, I wanted to create a character-driven animated series that would both entertain and educate children between the ages of 3 and 8.

Ayzel Tiger was born from those moments. She represents every curious, energetic, big-hearted child who’s still figuring out the world around them.

This project is not just about storytelling—it's about creating meaningful screen time that reflects values like kindness, truth, courage, and respect for elders.

What it does

Ayzel Tiger: Jungle Adventures Begin is a short-form animated series (3–5 min episodes) that follows the daily jungle adventures of Ayzel, a spirited tiger cub, and her friends and family.

Each episode focuses on:

  • A relatable social-emotional theme (truth, patience, empathy, etc.)
  • Simple, gentle conflict resolution
  • Visual storytelling rooted in jungle culture, nature, and imagination

The project currently features:

  • A full intro trailer
  • The first short film: Daisy’s Tail Trouble (teaching mindfulness and empathy) (To be released in a week)
  • Future episodes in production (Respecting Elders, The Tree Trial, etc.)

How we built it

  • Story Development: Written collaboratively using ChatGPT, with structured outlines, pacing, and character arcs
  • Character Design: Prompted and refined through Midjourney (v7), keeping consistency using Nano Banana with poses, wardrobe, and expressions
  • Backgrounds & Environments: Generated as cinematic jungle interiors and exteriors (clean plates) via Midjourney for animation layering
  • Animation: Built using Runway ML Gen-3 + Veo 3.1 with layered direction (shot types, motion, facial emotions)
  • Music: Theme song composed via Suno AI (lyrics + mood guidance)
  • Voiceover: Narration-driven storytelling with occasional character lines recorded and timed to match camera beats
  • Final Assembly: Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro with sound layering, timing, and subtitling

Challenges we ran into

  • Maintaining visual consistency across characters and props in AI-generated outputs (solved with prompt engineering + reference passes)
  • Timing AI video shots to match emotional moments in the script (solved with Veo 3 camera-specific prompts + trimming)
  • Balancing tone between education and fun—ensuring lessons didn’t feel too heavy-handed or too abstract
  • Rendering at scale—initial animation workflows were slow and manual until automated pipeline steps were introduced

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Created a fully animated trailer and complete short episode in less than 3 weeks using GenAI tools and a story-first approach
  • Developed a unique, reusable jungle universe populated with family-focused characters kids can relate to
  • Brought together writing, visuals, music, and narration into a cohesive and emotionally grounded story
  • Achieved early positive feedback from educators, parents, and test audiences (aged 4–7)

What we learned

  • Narrative matters most—children respond to emotions, rhythm, and repetition over complexity
  • Voiceover pacing and expression drive 90% of the perceived quality in children’s storytelling
  • GenAI tools are powerful, but human guidance in theme, tone, and empathy is irreplaceable
  • Building a world, characters, rules, and rituals, makes future episodes faster to create and more emotionally resonant

What's next for Ayzel Tiger: Jungle Adventures Begin

  • 3-Episode Pilot Book: Publishing a printed storybook with the first 3 episodes (Daisy the Cat, Respecting Elders, The Jungle Trial)
  • Ongoing Short Films: Releasing new animated stories every 4–6 weeks
  • YouTube Series Launch: Rolling out voiceover-led episodes for digital audiences
  • Educational Partnerships: Collaborating with early learning platforms and schools for SEL-based lesson plans
  • Merchandise & Licensing: Developing plushies, sticker books, and printable jungle activity kits
