Inspiration
We were inspired by the "Bro" app from the HBO TV show Silicon Valley. Seeing all the possibilities with one word, we thought, why not create the first "Ayo" app?
What it does
AyoL allows you to send messages to a global chatroom as well as send Ayo stickers, that play audio clips of various Ayos
How we built it
We built AyoL using React along with Gun.js for decentralized, web3 integration.
Challenges we ran into
When creating our app, Gun.js gave us many issues, and we struggled to get it set up. One large issue we faced was that messages would only be viewable from users on the same browser.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the fact that through this project we were able to dip our feet in the world of decentralized applications, and learn about all their strengths, as well as their pitfalls
What we learned
We learned that web3 has a steep learning curve given it's decentralized nature, and that we're going to need more practice to build more complex dapps.
What's next for AyoL
Our main focus for the future will be allowing users from different machines to send messages, as well as updating the chat when a new message is sent
