Inspiration

Many students in emerging markets are "locked out" of learning project management because they lack access to mentors and formal business education. They have great ideas but no roadmap to execute them.

What it does

AXON CREW is an AI-powered virtual mentor that takes a raw problem statement and generates a complete professional project roadmap:

  • Analyzes the user's intent and detects relevant domains
  • Recommends a tailored team with skill justifications
  • Estimates budget, timeline, and potential risks
  • Decomposes the project into actionable tasks

Instead of just giving answers, it teaches the structured process of project creation.

How we built it

  • Backend: Python & FastAPI with a 100% deterministic, rule-based expert system (no external LLM APIs)
  • Frontend: Vanilla HTML/CSS/JS with a modern Glassmorphism UI
  • Deployment: Render (Backend) & Vercel (Frontend)
  • Key Features: Zero API costs, fully accessible, works offline

Challenges we ran into

  • Designing a deterministic matching engine that accurately maps unstructured text to professional roles without relying on expensive external AI APIs
  • Handling CORS issues between Vercel and Render deployments
  • Creating a robust intent detection system that works with minimal input

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Building a fully functional, zero-cost AI engine that provides enterprise-level project planning insights
  • Achieving 100% uptime with free-tier hosting
  • Perfect alignment with the hackathon theme of "Learning Accessibility"

What we learned

  • The power of rule-based expert systems as an alternative to costly LLM APIs
  • How to build accessible tools that democratize knowledge
  • The importance of clean architecture for maintainability

What's next for AXON CREW

  • Integrating real-time collaboration features for distributed student teams
  • Adding multi-language support for broader accessibility
  • Creating a mobile app version for on-the-go project planning
