Axiopistos - Luxury Collectibles Authentication Platform

🎯 Inspiration

The luxury collectibles market is plagued with authenticity concerns, leaving buyers uncertain about their investments. I was fascinated by the potential of zkTLS (Zero-Knowledge Transport Layer Security) technology to create verifiable proofs of product authenticity without revealing sensitive purchase data. The combination of cutting-edge cryptographic technology and solving a real-world trust problem in the luxury market was incredibly exciting and drove me to build Axiopistos.

💡 What it does

Axiopistos is an iOS application that revolutionizes how luxury collectibles are verified and showcased. The platform:

  • Displays Premium Collectibles: Users can browse a curated collection of luxury items they want to collect
  • Verified Ownership Proof: Shows verified owners who have authenticated their purchases through trustworthy sources
  • zkTLS Authentication: Leverages zero-knowledge proofs to verify purchase authenticity without exposing sensitive transaction details
  • Trust Network: Creates a transparent ecosystem where collectors can confidently invest in verified luxury items

The app bridges the gap between luxury collectors and authentic products by providing cryptographic proof of legitimacy.

🔧 How we built it

Technology Stack:

  • Core Framework: Xion's Dave Mobile SDK integrated with Expo React Native
  • Database: Firebase for real-time data management and user authentication
  • Authentication: zkTLS integration for cryptographic proof generation
  • Platform: iOS-focused mobile application
  • Architecture: Modern React Native architecture with Firebase backend services

The development process involved integrating complex cryptographic protocols with an intuitive mobile interface, ensuring both security and user experience remained optimal.

🚧 Challenges we ran into

This project presented some of the most intense challenges I've faced in months:

SDK Crisis: Initially, I started with a carbon credits verification project (which I had submitted in the ideathon), but couldn't secure reliable verification sources, leading me to pivot to this more exciting luxury collectibles concept.

The Breaking Point: On September 17th, my project was nearly complete and ready for final touches. That's when disaster struck - Expo prompted an update to SDK 54, which seemed routine but turned into a nightmare. This "simple" update caused massive dependency breakages with the burnt abstraction package. What followed were two straight days and nights of debugging, troubleshooting, and rebuilding. The entire project became non-functional, and I had to dive deep into dependency conflicts, version compatibility issues, and SDK migrations.

The Comeback: Finally, on September 19th afternoon, I managed to get the project working again.

🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of

Resilience Under Pressure: I'm incredibly proud that I didn't give up during those brutal debugging nights when everything seemed broken. The determination to push through technical roadblocks and deliver a working solution showcases the grit needed in hackathon development.

Technology Integration: Successfully implementing zkTLS technology in a mobile environment and creating a smooth user experience despite the complex cryptographic backend.

Successful Pivot: Transforming initial setbacks into an opportunity to build something even more impactful and market-ready.

📚 What we learned

  • zkTLS Mastery: Gained deep understanding of zero-knowledge Transport Layer Security and its practical applications in authentication
  • Crisis Management: Learned how to handle critical breaking changes under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Expo Framework: Mastered React Native development with Expo, including SDK migrations and dependency management
  • Technical Resilience: Developed problem-solving strategies for complex technical challenges
  • Product Pivoting: Understanding when and how to pivot a project concept while maintaining core value propositions

🚀 What's next for Axiopistos

Phase 1 - Market Readiness:

  • Advanced filtering system for collectibles (price range, category, rarity, etc.)
  • Integration with more verified source providers (auction houses, certified dealers, official retailers)
  • Enhanced seller onboarding workflow with verification processes

Phase 2 - User Experience:

  • Complete UX overhaul of home page with personalized recommendations
  • Improved profile page with collection management tools
  • Social features allowing collectors to connect and trade

Phase 3 - Platform Expansion:

  • Android version development
  • Web platform for desktop users
  • API for third-party integrations
  • Marketplace functionality with secure transactions

Vision: Transform Axiopistos into the go-to platform for luxury collectibles authentication, creating a trusted ecosystem where collectors can buy, sell, and showcase their items with complete confidence in authenticity.
