Inspiration
We were inspired by the need to help other people. Due to COVID, there have been major concerns about humans' safety and therefore we believe that is of crucial importance to avoid other risks and try to be as safe as possible. This inspired us to create an idea that might save people's lives.
What it does
AXAlert is an alert system that monitors the disasters and notifies users of the upcoming results and provides them some safety measurements to follow according to the type of disaster. In addition, it provides the user with live reports to let people who are nearby the location to give more detailed information so people could take care of it.
How we built it
We build our project using Framer. It is a basic visualization of the functionalities that we would include when we build the iOS mobile application using Swift.
Challenges we ran into
- Finding an API to retrieve the data from.
- Using a specific webpage for each catastrophic event.
- Scaling the application to several countries and cities.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Providing an application that serves the community and helps people in need.
- Creating and finishing the AXAlert idea in the time of the hackathon.
What we learned
- There exist APIs that provide different information on natural events (e.g. Volcanoes, Hurricanes, and Earthquakes).
What's next for AXAlert
- Building the mobile application using both platforms iOS and Android.
- Let users provide live video reports so people can imagine what is happening exactly.
- Provide an emergency panic button, so if someone is suffering from that disaster, the application immediately contacts the police or any entity.
