Inspiration
Qwirkle is my family's favorite board game. We play it at Christmas, Thanksgiving, and pretty much anytime we get the chance.
How I built it
I used Java for the backend, and paired it with an HTML file that handled the frontend. I used a basic HTTP server launched from a complementary java filed that interfaced between the front end and back end. This server is received by an EC2 instance.
Challenges we ran into
I ran into a lot of challenges with making this game. These mostly came from a lack of experience. I had never used HTML or JavaScript or EC2 before this project, so it was a challenge to put this game together.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am really proud of this project. I realize that it may not be incredibly polished but looking back at what I knew before starting this project, I have grown and learned so much. If I saw this project six months ago, I would not have thought I could put it all together, and I am incredibly proud that I did.
What's next for Qwirkle
I would love to keep working on Qwirkle. The next additions and updates I would love to add to the game are as follows: Computer Players, Online Play, UI Improvements, Error Display
