 Inspiration

I built this project because I wanted to solve my own frustratio, keeping up with news felt like a full‑time job. I love learning, but I was wasting time scrolling and reading repetitive content. So I asked myself: what if I could use AI to do the reading for me, and summarize only what matters?

 What it does

AWS Daily News Summarizer Agent automatically fetches daily headlines, uses Amazon Bedrock’s LLM to generate a short, easy‑to‑read summary, and stores it in S3 so I can access it anytime. It’s like having a personal assistant who reads the news and delivers a clean, concise digest every day.

 How I built it

I used AWS Lambda to fetch news from NewsAPI and Amazon Bedrock (Claude 3 Sonnet) to summarize it. The summaries are uploaded to S3, and API Gateway is used for access through a simple HTTP endpoint. Everything runs serverlessly, so I don’t have to manage any infrastructure.

 Challenges I ran into

Getting good summaries was harder than I expected. The model sometimes produced vague or overly short results, so I learned to craft better prompts and control token length. I also spent time handling inconsistent RSS formats and API responses.

 Accomplishments that I’m proud of

I’m proud that I built an autonomous agent that actually works end‑to‑end within just a few days. It pulls live data, generates valuable output, and is fully deployed on AWS, no manual steps or external servers.

 What I learned

I learned how powerful Amazon Bedrock and AgentCore can be when combined with Lambda. It’s all about modular design: fetching, summarizing, and storing. I also deepened my understanding of prompt engineering and serverless AI deployment.

 What’s next for AWS Daily News Summarizer Agent

Next, I want to make it interactive, let users ask questions like “Summarize tech news in Asia” or “What’s trending in AI this week?” I’m exploring Amazon Q integration and domain‑specific agents to make daily news summaries more personal and insightful.
