Inspiration
My granddad had a major stroke attack, and he could not contact medical response in timely manner. I realized that one could help him monitor his irregularities during his early stroke attack. If I was to know and be alerted by this, I could help him alert medical response immediately.
What it does
It tracks beloved one's bio metrics, and syncs it with the monitor-er mobile app. The monitor-er can also set preferences for the mobile app to start alerting him/her as the live fed data keep coming in. It also have quick nav button to alert medical response. As for the one being monitored, he/she can also see the data, while have quick nav button to alert medical response, or emergency contacts.
How we built it
Microsoft Band --> MS health app --> Syncs with MS cloud health API --> Monitor-er feeding the data from cloud API, and sets the preference. We use web application to stream the data, and alert is using simple alert functionality from js.
Challenges we ran into
- We first tried to use mobile app, but android studio's virtual thing wont work with our current system.
- Trying to connect Web-app to SDKs, but we decided to just use the API only.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We not only produce a live demo, but we also produce discovery briefs, project charter and personas. And we get to use a new API that is very cool!
What we learned
What's next for aWear
We are going to implement it with mobile app, and data will sync more often, and we will add more functionalities with it based on our user research.
