Inspiration
The inspiration for my above project came from a deep concern about the alarming rate of climate change and its devastating effects on the planet. As I became more aware of the issue, I realized that many people were not adequately informed about climate change or what they could do to help.
I wanted to create a platform that would make it easy for people to stay informed and engaged in the global effort to combat climate change. The UN's 17 sustainable development goals served as an excellent framework for the project, as they provide a roadmap for creating a more sustainable future.
In addition, I drew inspiration from the incredible work of climate activists and organizations around the world who are tirelessly working towards a more sustainable future. Their dedication and commitment to the cause motivated me to create a platform that would support their efforts and amplify their voices.
Overall, my inspiration for this project came from a desire to make a positive impact on the world and to create a platform that empowers people to make a difference in the fight against climate change.
What it does
The platform scrapes climate event details from the UN website and provides the latest climate news through the use of News API. This ensures that users are up to date with the latest developments and news related to climate change.
One of the most exciting features of the platform is the ability for organizations to register and organize awareness campaigns and events. This feature helps to create a more sustainable future by encouraging people to take action and become involved in the fight against climate change.
Challenges we ran into
The journey of creating this project was not without its challenges, but we persevered and pushed through to create something truly remarkable. The most significant challenge we faced was the time limit, which pushed us to challenge our capabilty. Despite this, we were determined to create a project that would make a real impact in addressing climate change.
Along the way, we encountered various bugs and glitches that tested our patience and perseverance. These obstacles took up to 30% of our time, but we remained focused and determined to overcome them. In the end, the experience was both frustrating and fascinating as we learned how to debug and fine-tune our skills.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As a team, we are incredibly proud of the accomplishments we achieved while creating this project. We worked tirelessly to develop a comprehensive platform that empowers individuals and organizations to take action against climate change. Here are some of our proudest achievements:
Firstly, we were able to scrape climate event details from the UN website and provide the latest climate news using the News API. This feature ensures that users are informed about the latest developments in the fight against climate change.
Secondly, we created a robust and scalable database using MongoDB with Mongoose. This ensures that our platform can handle a large volume of users and data, making it accessible to as many people as possible.
Thirdly, we developed a registration feature that allows organizations to register and organize awareness campaigns and events. This feature helps to create a more sustainable future by encouraging people to take action and become involved in the fight against climate change.
What's next for Awareness App
we are working on to improve UI/UX and adding functionality for reminding user to join campaigns and events by sending them email using nodemailer, get more news and events from different website by using webscrapping and api.
