Inspiration

Going out for dinner almost every day, we felt that process of selecting food was very much lacking individualisation as well as transparency of what the meal will look like.

What it does

Avocado allows the user to adjust and order her favourite meal either in the restaurant or remotely. It makes sure your personal preferences are taken care of in the selection process. You will be able to take a look at the meal through an AR experience. This preview can be adjusted through voice commands indicating how you would like to modify the meal.

How we built it

Wikitude for AR. Clover for data about meals, prices, and user meta data. Ionic for the frontend.

Challenges we ran into

Augmented reality!!! There are a bunch of SDKs out there but integration proved to be extremely annoying for most of them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting to a fully functional prototype including the AR stuff. Very close this time.

What we learned

Always make sure you have a good idea about how to add the new tech (incl. specific packages) you want to include before you start hacking. Make sure there is a big community involved.
