What does Aveksha mean?

Aveksha is a Hindi/Sanskrit term meaning "care/looking after". And it is what our project is based upon.

Inspiration

  • The idea hit our brains during the period of Corona. When most of the families who were aware and capable, piled up medicines of all sorts in advance to avoid any risks and last minute rush, while on the other hand, many could not afford and had no knowledge of what to buy and what to not.
  • The problem did not end here. Those medicines that were stocked in such huge numbers eventually became of no use to them or were nearing the date of expiry and couldn't even be returned back to the pharmacy.

What it does

This is where the Aveksha initiative fits in. Instead of letting those useful medications go in waste, we have a created a platform where you can donate them and we will help those reach the unfortunate people in need of those.

How we built it

The front-end is built using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Bootstrap. For the backend, we have used JavaScript and and its frameworks along with PHP, jQuery and Google-Script.

Challenges we ran into

  • Implementing the contact form and storing the data.
  • Improving the styling of the landing page.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

First and most important, we learned working on the same project as a team. We are glad that we could make the website responsive, added some additional features like Aveksha bot, implemented a proper form to collect and store data. Learned and practiced many new skills .

What we learned

  • Improved our front-end designing skills using CSS and its frameworks.
  • Learnt back-end from scratch.
  • Concept of API.

What's next for Aveksha

  • Adding Login/Signup option for regular contributors.
  • Implementing reward point system to encourage donations.
  • Making the prototype idea turn into a full-fledged project.
