During the time of the health crisis, many people are staying inside their homes afraid to go outside. However, some people like the homeless people don’t have a choice, since they don’t have a home. We wanted to get a chance to help our community and society to keep everyone safe. The number of cases only seems to be rising and we want to make an impact to stop this growth. This health crisis needs to stop and we are here to help.
What it does
Our project is designed as a simple webpage platform that connects homeless shelters with the rest of the community. The website has an option for homeless shelters to sign up and register themselves as a shelter in need, and an option for anyone in the community to donate any items that they through shipping or online.
How we built it
We built this project by using HTML for the website and Google Vision API in order to identify the densely populated areas which contain homeless people and homeless shelters.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the major challenges we ran into was being able to use the Google Vision API software on our computer. We kept getting an error because of the local files and pathways.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were proud to have a finished working product for our website to be able to help our community and the homeless people who are misrepresented in our community. We were also proud to solve our problem and being able to use the Google Vision API software on our website.
What we learned
We learned a lot about how no one seems to care about the homeless people and that there are many people out there who need more help than others. It was also cool to use the google vision API software for the first time in order to enhance our project.
What's next for Auxilio
We hope to, later on, use machine learning as a way to predict where diseases and future viruses might spread in order to help the homeless community to better prepare themselves with enough hygienic and health items. Also, we would like to come up with a hardware aspect for the project by designing and creating an autonomous robot to deliver food, grocery, and health items to homeless shelters in the community.
