Inspiration

Inspiration for this project has come from solving a genuine problem in the crypto ecosystem.

What it does

The project allows the user to setup, manage and automatically execute a crypto will for their NEAR digital assets.

How we built it

The dApp is built on NEAR using a combination of Solidity, React Native, Javascript, Rust.

Challenges we ran into

Developing a mobile application on NEAR produced many challenges, which needed thorough researching of forums, help sites & discord etc to find solutions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Building a final version that is genuinely useful to the community and can be extended further.
Building directly to mobile is a much harder path, but was the right choice.

What we learned

Although similar to some other chains there are also many discreet differences encountered when building on NEAR, which needed to be researched and understood to reach the finish line.
An upgrade of the Testnet during the hackathon caused some anxiety too.

What's next for AutoWill

The project can be developed further to include other asset classes such as NFTs.
It is possible that market positions held by the user (eg lending positions, staking positions) could also be included and transferred to the beneficiaries in the will as well.
DEX functionality could also be included to send the beneficiaries the asset type of their choosing.
