Inspiration
The obstacle courses shown in the opening ceremony looked cool, and we wanted to try making an autonomous vehicle, especially with them becoming more popular now.
What it does
This is an autonomous vehicle capable of line-tracking, maze traversal, and avoiding obstacles.
How we built it
We used the Arduino and motor driver to communicate with the 2 infrared sensors as well as the ultrasonic sensor to allow the rover to adaptively understand the environment around it and avoid obstacles.
Challenges we ran into
The hardware components were hit or miss so a lot of parts would be faulty or break, resulting in us having to find replacement parts often.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to learn a lot through applying the electrical concepts we learnt in class to an actual application.
What we learned
We now have a well rounded understanding of how the motor driver works, including all of its pins, jumpers, and regulator. This knowledge helped us assemble our circuit and vehicle properly, as well as help with debugging.
