Our mission is to automate the anesthetic process in medical procedures. Due to the cost of obtaining an anesthesiologist, costs of surgeries are very expensive. With our device, an anesthesiologist will be able to monitor several patients at a time, effectively lowering the cost of each procedure. This device will also aim to minimize human error; the main problem anesthesiologists face is that they are constantly in fear of 2 major human errors. The first error is administering too much anesthetics; the second is administering too little. The latter can cause severe pain to the patient while the former can paralyze the patient. Overall, our project has 3 main components. The first is the heart rate monitor system, which gathers information using two IR sensors, filters them, and amplifies that signal. The second component is the motor driver and logic unit. This unit will determine when the motor to turn on, and at what speeds the motor should turn on at. The final unit is the anesthesiologist app, which gives the doctor patient vitals as well as an override function to administer lower or higher levels of anesthetics based on his or her discretion.
