Inspiration

With an interest in vehicle modeling and simulation our team wanted to construct something that would be applicable to an automotive engineer.

What it does

The simulation models a Tesla S in various federal drive cycles and simulates the different forces acting on the vehicle and the energy consumption.

How I built it

The simulation was built in Simulink which consists of graphical block diagramming tools and a customizable set of block libraries that implements embedded code.

Challenges I ran into

Some of the big challenges was time, algebraic loops, etc.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The simulation successfully models the forces acting on the Tesla model S and the energy consumption.

What I learned

More about Simulink, the road load equation, how to be more productive without sleep.

What's next for Automotive Road Load Power Simulation

Graduating college.
