Inspiration
I use automations on a daily basis and always think of ways that automation solutions can be improved. I decided to look deeper into this issue and see who it impacts the most and how to develop solutions that deliver value. Something that I noticed was that many companies after implementing automations fail to perform this crucial step that is developing a plan. Automation Assembly is not a simple roll out plan that maps a company's journey through its automation process.
What it does
Automation Assembly is meant to ease the initial amount of friction before and after implementing automation solutions. As an application, Automation Assembly takes into account crucial business sales numbers and percentages in order to breakdown to a business leader, just how much they would benefit from having an automation plan. This application also prepares business leaders to launch their very own Automation Assembly pilot program within their company by equipping them with the tools and information that they need to quickly begin their company's long term automation journey.
How we built it
Automation Assembly was built on the Pega 8.5 platform
Challenges we ran into
There were particular issues during the research phase of the project. It was important to include figures that align closely to actual business figures. So, during the research phase there were many reports we found and we aggregated that data in order to have common numbers for any company that decides to use this application.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is the very first Automation Assembly plan that has been introduced and it addresses some major issues, including, the exponentially increasing number of new technology being introduced to a workforce that can't keep up. Automation Assembly just begins to break the surface of where companies will want to begin. This application helps business leaders visualize how to build a team and re-skill employees, while also having a company that properly knows have to leverage its technology in house and keep up with the latest technology.
What we learned
Throughout this process I learned just how much work companies have ahead of them regarding automations and I also learned something frightening which is that although companies are growing by buying new technology and hiring developers to maintain these technologies, there is a growing number of people in the workforce whose skills are becoming more obsolete. This is going to be a make or break moment for companies to decide to re-skill their employees with an automation plan or to continue the unsustainable path of hiring and outsourcing specific individuals from a decreasing qualified workpool to monitor and resolve automation issues.
What's next for Automation Assembly
With Automation Assembly, we plan to build even more features that will customize each company's automation plan further. This will include email options, as well as planning sessions, email notifications to team members and a feature to allow business leaders to build their team directly on the platform as well as manipulate data factors to see how small adjustments can impact their company on a major level. I would like to add more interactive tools as well such as sliders to make the UI a bit more user friendly.
