Inspiration
Many individuals, especially those with chronic conditions or multiple health concerns, are prescribed a complex regimen involving multiple medications. Keeping track of different dosages, and frequencies can be challenging.
A timely automatic medicine dispenser provides an accurate and time-saving solution without human errors or memory limits, contributing to a more streamlined and effective healthcare management process.
What it does
Dispense correct number of pills timely based on schedules from healthcare providers.
How we built it
For the hardware, which consists of sorter, housing and dispenser, the team 3d printed them with PLA. For the controlling system, the team used Arduino.
Challenges we ran into
The stepper motor was not accurate. The dispenser geometry needs to be optimized
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A functional model built within 24 hours which tackles with real life problems for elderly and individuals with neurological disorders an easy solution with medication management
What we learned
3D modelling and printing Arduino programming
What's next for Automatic medicine dispenser
Design graphical user interface Real time synchronization of medication schedule with healthcare providers Improve dispensing system Add vibration sorting
