Our project Automated Traffic System
This aims at regulating the road traffic, by identifying motorists who ride without helmet, over speeding is also measured, it also reads the necessary documents such as license, RC book, insurance and for necessary fine amount is debited form the bank account who violates traffic rules or don't have these important documents.
We have built this project using multiple sensors which uses :
1.Extraction of image of the vehicle, through digital image processing people riding without helmets are scanned and a penalty amount is debited from their linked bank accounts. 2.For verifying the documents of the vehicle and owner, whether it has expired or not, active infrared sensor is used where the receiver is installed as a default on the number plates of all the vehicles. 3.Cameras continuously capture picture of all the vehicles, traffic rules violators are punished. 4.For dynamic traffic signal control system, a detector unit with inductive loop detector, sensor mounted on the poles and a control unit.
The Challenges we ran into were:
- Making all sensors work simultaneously
- Improving accuracy pf digital image processing
- Working with detector unit with inductive loop detector
