Inspiration

We've seen challenges within our community, where individuals face difficulty in identifying a suitable degree path. Motivated by this, we developed a program aimed at assisting members of our community in discovering a path tailored to their interests and aspirations.

What it does

The program takes in user input, such as interests and hobbies, and provides them with majors precisely tailored to them.

How we built it

We used a web scraper to grab data from College Board's website along with Azure's built-in database and AI search service to store and process our data. On the front-end, we employed a combination of Vite and React, connecting to the back-end through Flask.

Challenges we ran into

A challenge we ran into was navigating Azure's multitude of features. Given that none of us had prior experience incorporating a cloud computing platform, working through the many features was a difficulty for us.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we were able to utilize Azure's services to create a program that can benefit communities around the globe.

What we learned

We learned how to operate Azure's AI search service and database to create a workable user-friendly program.

What's next for College Major Suggestion Tool

With our College Major Suggestion Tool, we hope to later employ it onto a website and optimize some of the searching capabilities.
