Inspiration
Going to my friend's house and seeing as he had a dog, we planned to create a dog food dispenser to automate his routine feeding schedules. We also had planned to make a automated plant water dispenser, but couldn't implement that for hardware reasons.
What it does
The Dog Food dispenser can easily dispense a limited amount of food and place it into the feeding bowl, which a dog can proceed to consume. Additionally, it can be set to do this at specific time intervals, allowing the dog to be properly fed, whilst the owner may be in a different location, such as at his/her office.
How we built it
We utilized an Arduino UNO board and then implemented a button and servo motor in out design, which has a reservoir of dog food that later is dispensed.
Challenges we ran into
We didn't run into many challenges, but there were a few package and coding errors that we faced in Arduino IDE when implementing out program.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we successfully completed this and created an efficient design, that we can utilize in our daily lives.
What we learned
We didn't learn much extra, but we did experiment with the servo motor a lot, as this was one of the first projects where we implemented that sensor.
What's next for Automated Arduino Dog Food Dispenser
We were limited hardware wise and couldn't get all the parts that we needed on time, but we want to automate other parts of the household, along with improving this design by adding a motion sensor and/or Wi-Fi module to integrate it with an Android/iOs application.
