Inspiration

The nature of everybody to embrace a radically new technology. There are hundreds of products that are trying to bring the internet of things to a common technology. However , people are often too skeptic to try something that is so radical. So we thought of making something that does not require you to CHANGE your existing setup , instead, it adapts to your life seamlessly.

How it works

Our project uses Linux as the controller for all input/output. Hardware I/O is done via bluetooth to a Raspberry Pi , where the data is processed. We are using NLTK for language processing, which is needed for our Assistant. Python scripts coordinate data flow from hardware and the webscript. Basic web technologies on a LAMP stack are also being used for the lamp stack. To query data, which have correct and definite answers, we are also using WolfRam API. Aside of this, speech synthesis is also being used for the voice of Ariadne' , AutoHome's virtual assistant.

Challenges I ran into

Getting all these moving parts all working together, from data input from the hardware , over BT , data processing, and finally, language processing and speech analysis.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Getting all these moving parts all working together, from data input from the hardware , over BT , data processing, and finally, language processing and speech analysis.

What I learned

Teamwork, and project coordination over LAN. Management of multiple git branches

What's next for AutoHome

We are looking to patent a design for our SMart SWitch, which will be based on linear actuators, instead of off-the-shelf servos. We will talk to the mentors, and ask for reviews. If this idea has potential, we will launch a crowd sourced campaign
