Inspiration
Working with UAVs for centimetre-level mapping made me realize the potential of Small and low-cost drones to make Street-View more Richer and Recent. This little idea was in my mind for long enough.
What it does
It basically captures a 3d globe around the flying drone around the most searched and much required paths and Locations to generate a 3d Skeleton of the vicinity. Then the more better cameras can optimize the STL depending on what objects are more requirement.
How we built it
Using open-source tech and Open-Hardware running a Small Scratchbuilt drone. It is a tail-sitting VTOL, carries 4 cameras. and One High Res Camera. Has on-board RTK-PPK capable hardware, synced with the AutoPilot.
Challenges we ran into
Cost management and Payload accomodation, Then the algorithm for obstacle avoidance. Later-On it was the priority
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we learned
A lot, mostly Team-Work and the capacity to Dream-Biig. As engineer, I've come to realize the enormous capacity to achieve the old-Impossibles.
