Inspiration
Every day, millions of people depend on food delivery apps — yet the process is still tiring and repetitive. We browse long menus, compare endless options, and often exceed our monthly budget without realizing it. This creates decision fatigue and financial stress. Existing food delivery apps only let you browse; they don’t think for you. This inspired us to build AutoBite — a system that automates daily food ordering, eliminates choice overload, and protects your monthly budget using AI.
What it does
AutoBite is an AI-powered automated food delivery system. Users simply: Set their monthly budget Select their likes, dislikes, and cuisines Choose their meal times Turn on Auto-Order After that, AutoBite handles everything automatically. The system: Calculates your daily spending limit Picks meals that match your taste and budget Ensures variety (not the same meal every day) Places the order automatically at your chosen times Re-adjusts future orders if you overspend Provides a complete hands-free food ordering experience For users, AutoBite removes daily decision fatigue and prevents overspending. For restaurants, it helps create predictable demand with automated repeat orders.
How we built it
We have vibe coded the app fully on Base44. Frontend: Next.js, TailwindCSS, ShadCN
Backend: Node.js / Next.js APIs Database: PostgreSQL with Prisma ORM AI Layer: Grok Free API for decision-making and automation logic Scheduler: Cron-like automation for meal-time workflows
Challenges we ran into
Designing an AI system that understands budgets, preferences, and timing simultaneously Creating a smart dynamic budget engine that recalculates limits each day Building a full restaurant-management system alongside the customer app Ensuring smooth automation without user intervention Handling scheduling, order flows, and real-time status updates Making the UI intuitive enough for users to trust automation Coordinating multiple complex components under hackathon time constraints
