Inspiration
Applying for jobs often requires filling the same information repeatedly across different websites. This process is time-consuming and repetitive for students and job seekers. I wanted to build a tool that could automate this process by analyzing resumes and automatically filling job application forms.
What it does
AutoApply AI allows users to upload a resume and provide a job description. The system extracts candidate information such as name, skills, and contact details from the resume and generates a structured profile. Using browser automation, the project demonstrates how job application forms can be automatically filled using the extracted information.
How i built it
The system was built using Python and Streamlit to create an interactive interface. PyPDF2 is used to extract text from resumes. The application analyzes the resume and job description to generate candidate profile data. Selenium is then used to demonstrate automated form filling in a browser.
Challenges i ran into
Parsing resume content reliably was challenging because resumes can have different formats and layouts. Another challenge was mapping extracted information correctly to the corresponding form fields during automation.
What i learned
Through this project, I learned about integrating resume parsing, automation, and AI-assisted analysis into a single workflow. I also gained experience working with Streamlit interfaces and Selenium automation.
What's next for AutoApply AI
Future improvements could include support for multiple job platforms, smarter resume analysis using advanced AI models, and a browser extension that can automatically fill real job application portals.
