Inspiration
I am a micro content creator and, like several other creators, I manage the complete process of content creation by myself, which includes designs, captions, video editing, image editing, and so on. In order to post a piece of content on more than one platform, it needs to be edited, even though it might not require any major edits, but it is still time-consuming. This made me realize how much time is spent resizing and rewriting the same content for different platforms, this sparked the idea for Auto Repurpose Pro - an add-on that helps creators, social media managers, small business owners, and many others which will help them quickly transform one design into platform-ready content that will not only save time but also boost creativity.
What it does
Auto Repurpose Pro allows the user to create multiple versions of an Adobe Express design and create those versions to fit on various social media platforms in an instant. It self-adjusts the design, rewords the captions, outlines Instagram or Facebook specifics, and puts everything together for easy export and scheduling all in a single click. This helps creators save time, avoid tedious work, and have their content flow fantastically across all platforms.
How we built it
To build this, we can leverage Adobe Express Add-on SDK, AI text generation APIs, and React for the user interface. The main goal of this project is to create a seamless, less time-consuming workflow to solve the real problem for the users. To come to this idea, I started by reflecting on common challenges faced by creators, managers, and other users. Then I reviewed existing Adobe Express add-ons and third-party tools. While there are solutions for resizing or caption rewriting separately, none offered a click workflow including resizing, AI-powered rewriting, and export in one place. This gap in the existing system inspired me to build the idea of Auto Repurpose Pro.
Challenges we ran into
Try to avoid duplication of existing add-ons: I had to research a little bit on Adobe Express's current add-ons to ensure that this idea does not clash with existing ones and that this was not already solved. While there are tools for resizing and rewriting individually, none combined the full workflow.
To find a balance between the creator's voice and automation: The main challenge was to design a solution that saves time without removing the creator's voice. Several products can end up completely removing a user's voice and replacing it with AI. This helped me shape the idea of this add-on, which provides a solution without removing the user's creativity; rather, it makes their work simpler.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I learned how to see a genuine, underserved problem: To do this, I researched a bit, which uncovered a common problem as I experienced it myself in terms of reinventing the wheel and wasting time trying to get the content I created to work in other places.
Locating a special position within the Adobe Express ecosystem: Having looked at available add-ons, I was able to verify that although a few deal with fragments of the repurposing process, there is no single one-click solution. That gap assisted me in making a clear value proposition.
Scoping an “in-scope” technically feasible and user-friendly solution: Even in the concept phase, I came up with a clear pathway that will use Adobe Express APIs, AI integration, and UI design that will ensure that the experience is self-explanatory and scalable.
What we learned
While working on this idea, I learned more about how Adobe Express works, not just as a design tool but as a growing ecosystem for users and creators. I explored how add-ons extend functionality, simplifying the user's needs. I also discovered how developers can use Express APIs for design files, layer content, and even connect with AI. This made me understand how powerful and flexible the platform is. As a student, it was exciting to realize that tools like Adobe Express are becoming more accessible, helping other developers and creators to smooth out the process. It inspired me to think of ways to build tools that can help users in their day-to-day lives.
What's next for Auto Repurpose Pro
The next step is to move from concept to prototype by building a working MVP using Adobe Express Add-on SDK, initially supporting 3 core platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. The next step will be to integrate AI-powered caption rewriting by using GPT-4 or Adobe Firefly. A simple, intuitive UI is an important part of this, as users can easily access and use this without confusion. Once the add-on is in the ready-to-test stage, it can be tested through a beta test by creators or any users and get feedback to refine the workflow. As it gets completely ready, we can move to expanding platform support (Pinterest, Facebook, etc), export options, and scheduling integration in future versions.
