The main problem this project is trying to solve/improve is the automation of water-based operations for plant life for commercial or private uses. If a resident is away from their property and the plants need daily or weekly supply of hydration, this project is automated and allows the plants to live healthy while the owners are away. Furthermore, in commercial uses the rainwater harvester can be built in larger dimensions outside a greenhouse, with direct connections to micro-sprinkler irrigation system for plants inside the greenhouse. This prevents soil erosion while maintaining the life cycle of plants/crops. Paired with IoT sensors, this system becomes fully automated, reducing the need for manual labor and regular checking. There are many regions in the world where heavy rainfall plays a major role in the destruction of crops and paired with lack of technology, this mainly causes migration of landowners/laborers to different jobs or different towns. This system can significantly increase job opportunities by maintaining the health of crops and introduce a higher literacy rate among marginalized communities.
